Merlot in the Langhe area is a natural exception to the rule.
Assolo Langhe DOC Merlot
An oak, the tree that welcomes our time of rest.
Among the rows of Merlot vines stands an oak. Majestic, solitary, independent. It dominates the landscape with its silent presence. It needs no other trees around it to be what it is. We chose the portrait of this oak to tell the story of ASSOLO.Because Langhe DOC Merlot ASSOLO was born from a precise choice: walking against the wind, in true rock 'n' roll style. In 2016, I planted Merlot not out of tradition, but out of passion. Not because I had to, but because I felt it.ASSOLO tells two intertwined stories: the musical solo, when the artist expresses himself without restraint, and the solitary oak tree that welcomes those seeking rest beneath its branches. Strength and welcome. Independence and protection.
ASSOLO is our pure Merlot, interpreted with Piedmontese logic. From the Roddi vineyard exposed to the warm evening sun, on clay, silt, and slightly sandy soils. Vinified with native yeasts and aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. On the nose, the unmistakable notes of delicate herbs, spices, and toasted hazelnut support a very persistent fruitiness. On the palate, the entry is rich and enveloping, with a finely tannic finish that returns with the varietal's typical spicy notes. A Merlot that tastes of the Langhe, not elsewhere. It’s a must try.
